I Take My Pill Before My Workout

I wake up at 5 a.m., take my pill, go work out, then come home to eat. That way I get in a workout and also can wait to eat for an hour. When I'm on vacation, I only take out one pill and put it on the night stand. That way I won't forget the bottle in a hotel.

Glass of Water on the Nightstand

I put a glass of water on my nightstand at night, and I set out 1 of my thyroid pills. When I wake at 3:30 a.m. to go to the bathroom, I take my pill. When I get up at 5 a.m., I can drink coffee, etc. without having to wait 30 minutes to an hour. This works wonderfully for me, and I never forget to take my pills even when traveling.

Pills on the BedsideTable

I keep my Levox-thryoid pills in my night table. When I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom which is usually around 2-3a.m., I take it then to allow for proper absorption. If I don't get up in the middle of the night which is very rare, I take it first thing in the morning. I just reach over to my night table.

Keep Thyroid Pill by the Coffee Maker

I put my pills in the cabinet by the coffee machine and take it as I make my morning coffee. It seems to work well for me.

Dedicated Container

I have a small pill container with 4 slots. I tape times on the top of each compartment. I put only one pill in each compartment. I put the pill in each night and put the box on my night stand. If the pill is not there, I know I took it. If it is, I take it first thing in the morning. I keep the container with me in an easy to reach compartment of my purse. The alarm on my cell alerts me to any other times I need to take my pill.

Weekly Pill Box

I have a pill box that has the days of the week labeled. On Saturdays, I put one dose in each daily compartment. That way I know I NEVER miss a dose.

Start the Day on Thyroxine

I take mine as soon as I wake up. So far after 2 years, I have only forgotten to do this once or twice.

Toothbrush Reminder

I keep both doses of Levothyroxine next to my toothbrush with a little cup just for the pill water. I can check the cup to see if it's wet.

Clock Radio

I keep my medicine by my clock radio, so when the fat lady sings, it's time to take my thyroid medication. I also take it on an empty stomach at bedtime to allow 7 hrs for absorption.

Put a Dot on a Self-adhesive Label

Every time I take my medication, I put a dot on the self-adhesive label that I put on the glass of pills. It's in front of the mirror in the bathroom, so it's the first thing I see when I get there in the morning. It works nicely for me.

Flipping the Bottle

I flip the bottle containing my pills upside down when I've taken one. The next time, I flip it back right side up. The difference in the bottle's orientation is enough to remind me whether I've taken it or not, though the way my memory's going, I may need to get a 7 day pill box just in case.

Technology Helps Me Remember

I take three 1 grain tablets of dessicated thyroid whenever I wake up or earlier if I wake up to go to the bathroom. I use multiple approaches. I have two alarms on my PDA phone. I also use an Outlook reminder that is tied to my Yahoo account, and that sends me a big "DID YOU TAKE IT?" text message AND e-mail message in mid-morning. Now that it's a habit, I've only had one time when I messed up and ate before taking my Armour (now Erfa) medication. I just had to wait a couple of hours and delay my lunch.

How I Remember to Take My Thyroid Pill

I have a plastic container with days of the week on top. I keep a bottle of water by the bed, and when I wake up so I can take it immediately. This container helps because if you can't remember if you took it or not, you can tell by looking at the day. You just have to remember what day it is. HA!

How I Remember to Take My Thyroid Pills

My husband and I both have Hashimoto's. We set an alarm for 3:30 a.m. to take our thyroid pill so it won't interfere with breakfast. Each of us has on our respective bed tables water and one thyroid pill in an old pill bottle so that in the morning we know we took our pill!
