Tired, Tired Always

For 13 years I have been feeling tired. Tired always and muscle aches, I went for thyroid test 3 years back and it was negative. Thinking of being retested.

Mother

My mother passed away today. The ICU doctor believes it was her thyroid. She had been treated for this before, but was taken off the medicine. July 31 I tried to have her admitted to hospital, medicare would not okay it. Two weeks later she went in an ambulance and never came home. Her urine was dark brown, she did not eat for eight weeks. Felt like she had to urinate all the time, but did not go. She began to lose her voice and could not move. I am curious if this does this sound like thyroid disease. We infomed doctors that she had been treated for this before.

I Think My Naturopath Has Saved My Life!

I have been battling ever since my second child was born. My blood test came back normal but I have been depressed, achy, no sex drive etc. My doctor said I had depression he prescribed antidepressants and counseling. Finally I saw my naturopath who said that blood test often come back "normal" and one of the best ways to test thyriod function is basal temprature. If it is below 98.6 taken 3 times a day for several days and averaged then there is a thyriod problem.

Generic Thyroid Medication

To those of you who have problems with insurance, you should know that once you've gotten a prescription for generic Synthroid, the cost is about $8 a month at Walmart's. I hope this helps those of you without insurance.

Hashimotos Flare Up

I have Hashimotos and recently had a flare up. It was not fun and I felt both tired, anxiety, depression, tired, tired, tired. Finally some one suggested that I take an extra Synthoid pill and that did seem to help me get back to "normal". I am wondering how others handle Hasimotos flare ups.

I Feel Like a Hypochondriac!!!

Over the past 4yrs, I feel I have been going mental. I have visited the Doctors on numerous occasion about my tiredness. I have had two blood tests done for thyroid that came back negative but recently I've been really bad sleeping all the time, forgetting what I'm doing, and not being able to concentrate. My muscles also ache even when I first get up in the morning. My partner thinks I'm going nuts!! I've just been for another blood test and am hoping something will show up, I just need someone to say you are not going mad. I don't feel depressed but do feel my life is being wasted away because I'm always too tired to do anything, this is making me feel upset and irritable!!!

Hypothyroid

1 year before diagnosis of hypothyroid my body was falling apart. Severe menstrual cramping, cold sweets, fainting, heart palpitations when laying in bed. Lactose intolerance, digestive illness/flu, anxiety, depression, exhaustion, cold intolerance, cold sore outbreaks every couple weeks, bronchitis twice. Lack of concentration, insomnia, feeling like time stood still/slowed down. Driest skin ever, dandruff/ scalp issues. Many symptoms have resolved since taking Levothyroxine. I still suffer from ongoing fatigue, anxiety and depression, cold and heat intolerance continue to be an issue. My father has hypothyroid and suggested I be tested. He knew more than the doctors who never even thought of testing my thyroid!!

I'm Sick & Tired of Being Sick & Tired!

After the birth of my 2nd child, I felt and LOOKED great. I was smaller than I had been in years. I was diagnosed as HYPOthyroid.I took a very low dose pills through 2 more pregnancies...still ok...9 weeks after my 4th child, I was sent to the ER with aterial flutter/150 bpm heart rate...HYPER that day...2 years later, I had an AF ablation...now, I have atrial fibrillation...cardio, PCP and EP. They all think it's my thyroid causing the heart problems...two endo's now have told me it can't be...take 50 mcg synthroid/day and supposed to be taking an extra half pill 3x a week...I quit taking the extra half pills and the afib episodes have gone down and weakened?!?! Also have one nodule, a small goiter and a "honeycombed" thyroid...what the heck does that mean? I have gained 10+ lbs. in the last few months (and can't lose anything - was told "you're just gettin old (I'm 35)"! I'm just sick & tired of being sick & tired!

Omg! I'm Not Alone!

Living with hypothyroid for 6 yrs. After having my daughter my doc thought my neck looked a little puffy. Come to find out thyroid levels were high. After 6yrs they continued to go out of wack. Upping my meds every 3 months. Moodiness, heart palpitations, weight gain, tired all the time and zero energy. Just to name a few.

Whats Happening to Me?

I've been having my thyroid checked since I was in my 20's because of family genetics. I was certain I had some fatal disease when my breathing became labored, tremors were uncontrollable, heartrate at rest was 147, and I was having a hard time walking. Insomnia, "hot-flashes", memory loss. Finally, after the holidays I went to see my MD. Lots of bloodwork was done and I had Graves disease. She needed to see me right away to start me on meds. until I could see an endo.Dr. Metropolol, and a very low dose of methimizole, with a promise I would not exert myself or she would put me in the hospital. My first visit to my Endo Dr. was enlightening. Graves, auto-immune disease is treatable once it is under control. 60mg. methimizole 3x daily for a week then down to 40 mg. 2x daily. During all of this I had some GYN issues that appeared and required surgery, but not until my FT4 & FT3 came down. It took 5 mths Had surgery, but thyroid is still crazy. WGT is increased & feel like crap

My Symptoms

I am 36 and was diagnosed for Thyroid condition in 2002. I was issued Armour Thyroid pills and they tasted like crap. I only took them for about a year when I lost my job and my insurance. I have not had insurance since then. I haven't worked permanently at a job that I could get insurance. I can't afford to pay for it myself. No, I am over weight, tired all of the time and ache all over. I have severe depression and I feel like my memmory is mush. I am scared and don't know what to do to feel better. I don't know how to get the help I desperately need without insurance. I'm wondering if any of you have suggestions. I would appreciate it.
