What Important Life Lesson Thyroid Disease Taught You

I learned to listen to my body. I knew something was wrong for years, although traditional doctors wouldn't listen. I'm a registered nurse and it has made me have so much more compassion for my patients. I listen to them now more than ever. Stand up for your beliefs and search out a homeopathic doctor who prescribes natural thyroid medication.

How Has This Lesson Changed Your Life?

I take one day at a time and fight for my life because no one else is going to do it for me. I'm a registered nurse and talked to many traditional doctors about my hypothyroid condition. They just don't get it. They will throw you prescriptions for depression and anxiety then blow you off. I learned to trust what my body was telling me and to research and fight for myself until I found the right doctor who amazingly listened to what I had to say and believed me (imagine that). Hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's) has taught me to be a better nurse, and to fight for my life.

Advice

  • Research, research, research! Travel to another town if that's what it takes to find a doctor that will treat your SYMPTOMS, not the numbers on a piece of paper. Do without some simple luxuries and save your money to see an anti-aging, homeopathic, naturopathic doctor. Don't use money as an excuse. Trust me, when you start feeling like yourself again, you'd give any amount for that precious gift.
