Tell Us About Your Thyroid Condition and Your Fatigue

I'm a 38 year old female with Hashimoto's diagnosed at age 31.

I did not respond well at all to synthetic T4-only treatment and switched to Armour then Nature-throid during the recent shortage.

Even though my labs were ideal, I still experienced extreme fatigue and lethargy that severely impacted my lifestyle as well as several of the other classic symptoms to varying degrees.

When my fatigue was at its worst, I slept through a smoke alarm going off in the same room I was sleeping in and routinely had to be shaken hard in order to wake up. Having coffee in bed was the only way I could begin to function for the day.

What Are You Doing to Deal With Your Fatigue

After years of experimenting with supplements and reading everything I could get my hands on, I finally settled on what is for me a magic elixir, almost completely eliminating my symptoms:

I split my Nature-throid into two sub-lingual doses, 1 grain in the morning and 1/2 grain in the late afternoon;

100 mcg per day of selenium;

250mg of magnesium every other day;

400 IU of vitamin D3 every other day;

a multi-vitamin for women 3 times per week;

1 mg of melatonin every evening just before bed in order to fall asleep easily and stay asleep for the entire night.

I did have to do a regimen of different supplements for a couple of months to correct my adrenals. Once those were taken care of, the list above works well for me.

Advice

  • Determine if you have adrenal fatigue and deal with that first.
  • Find a doctor that's willing to look beyond the numbers and treat your symptoms.
  • Realize that your entire endocrine system is out of wack, not just your thyroid.
  • Read everything you can about your disease. Get informed!
