Tell Us About Your Thyroid Condition and Your Fatigue

I had terrible fatigue and breathing problems in October of this year. Come to find out, I had a multi-nodule goiter on my thyroid. January, I had a total thyroidectomy. It's nice to feel better and to breathe, but now I am very hyper and trying to find the right dosage of thyroid medication. It's nice to have energy, but with too much comes the crashing fatigue of no deep REM night sleep.

What Are You Doing to Deal With Your Fatigue

Like most of you have mentioned, exercise has helped: walking, weight training, strength training. And, most importantly, what has helped has been talking to my doctor who listens to my list of symptoms. I, too, noticed that watching my carbohydrate/sugar/caffeine intake has made a difference.

Advice

  • Be proactive. Read and learn.
  • Find an understanding doctor.
  • Chart your medication and symptoms to see what works.
  • Eat well including breakfast which is most important to start the day.
  • Exercise.
  • Don't be too hard on yourself.
  • Take baby steps and be patient.
  • The hard work back to health is well worth the work!
