In 2002, I developed Hashimoto's very suddenly. I was only one point below normal on my physicians scale, but I had brain fog, scalp crawling, bumping into walls, and cold intolerance. It was winter, and for some crazy reason, I just figured it all went along with menopause, which I still believe is occurring more and more with hypothyroidism. I joined an "at work" Weight Watchers group when I saw how difficult it was for this body to not shed fat. My normal weight had been 160-180 pounds for many years and I am tall. But then it had crept up to 215 pounds, so through Weight Watchers in 2005, I got back down to 192, and was darn proud. I walked onto the beach with hubby and did not stress over this. Since that time I retired, developed some depression, then found out later I had fibromyalgia. With thyroid medication and not watching my weight, I got up to 267 pounds in 2009. I lost 15 pounds in one year, so I decided I had a goal and divided it into three years. I am going to get into Weight Watchers, for it is practical, easy, and you learn so much at the meetings. Hearing others express their frustrations gives you more impetus to try. .I have been doing great and I cannot wait to weigh in each week. I have bumped up the exercise to twice a day and have 4-6 smaller meals a day. You just use a point system and that is easier. Writing it down makes a big difference too. Put yourself first. You want to live longer for that reunion coming up, or grandchildren visits. It has been so worth it for me to get back in this easy program!Did you successfully lose weight on this diet?
