My endrocrinologist suggested that I join Weight Watchers. I started my weight loss journey approximately 4 years ago after receiving treatment for my hypothyroidism. My first attempt was Nutrisystem's low glycemic diet plan. This did work and I lost about 15 pounds, but it was very expensive! I also believe that exercise is an important factor in weight loss, especially for those with thyroid issues. I exercise at least 5/days per week fr 30 minutes. My weight loss with Nutrisystem stopped at 15 lbs. It was about a yr. later that I started Weight Watchers. Since joining I have lost approximately 25 lbs. I believe that for me WW's will be a lifetime plan. You can incorporate all types of recipes into WW's plan. Going to meetings, getting weighed and documenting food intake are the various factors that make the program work. Exercise is also a key factor. Also ask your doctor to check your blood work to see if you are insulin resistant. I was, and now I take metformin daily, and this medication has helped my body to metabolize food more efficiently. I have also eliminated the use of sugar in my diet and stick with sugar substitutes. I believe that weight loss for all of us is a mindset and when we decide that we really are sincere about losing weight, we get down to business and do it. Just remember that every step that you take to lose weight is a step to make yourself healthier and happier, we do it because it's something that we're doing for ourselves. The day that you start your weight loss plan is the day that you say to yourself "It's All About Me".
