My Review

I have known that I am hypoglycemic for many years, and was on a low carb diet most of the time, which helped a lot. When I started taking antidepressants, I gained 35 pounds. I have been on the Atkins diet or eating low carb off and on for about 6 years and have lost 20 lbs. Recently I found Mark Sisson's site Mark's Daily Apple and his philosophy of eating primal, the way humans ate when they evolved, before the practice of farming and eating grains changed the human diet. Most (maybe all) of us have not evolved to be able to properly digest grains. Eating rice, pasta, bread, corn (yes it's a grain, not a vegetable) and other starchy foods, leads to an unhealthy body, diabetes, heart disease, and possibly disturbed thyroid function. Google-ing thyroid followed by the word carbohydrates will produce many sites attesting to the advantage of low carb diets for thyroid problems.
