My Review I am hypothyroid and have been steadily gaining weight in the last 2 years. I am 50 years old, 5'1" tall and topped out at 151 lbs before I knew I had to do something. My doctor told me to try Weight Watchers, which I did. I had no success with that. I lost a total of 3 pounds and couldn't get any more weight off. One day I saw an advertisement in our local newspaper for Metabolic Research Center. I went in for my free consultation and decided to try their program. It's based on low carbs, high protein, and carefully measured and calculated meal plans that you follow. I do better when someone tells me what to eat, when to eat it, and how much, but that's just me. Their program includes weighing in twice a week as well as purchasing and using some of their supplements. The only thing you are obligated to purchase, in order to achieve results, is their protein drinks that you consume during the day along with your meals. The price for six weeks was $99. I wanted to lose 25 pounds, which I did in the four months I was on the program. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the pounds coming off. I lost 1-2 pounds per week. They have a great staff and offer free classes for additional support while on their plan. I will not lie: the program is not cheap. However, I would not have lost any weight trying to do this on my own. I purchased many of their supplements while on the plan to help my body get what it needed while on this diet. They also have supplements that will speed up the weight loss. Being hypothyroid, it's a little more difficult to achieve the 3-4 pounds a week they say you will lose. I love the way I look, I can now get into clothes I haven't worn for several years, and I feel so much better. My blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar levels are fantastic and my family doctor approved of this diet as well. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone who is hypothyroid and cannot lose or who is gaining weight steadily.
