Diagnosed with Hashimoto's, I went to a holistic practitioner who did the right blood tests. She put me on a Type A Blood Type Diet("Eat Right For Your Blood Type") and told me no more sugar, caffeine, dairy, soy, gluten or red meat. I freaked, but somehow managed to come up with a diet plan following this protocol. I can eat goat cheese, whole grains such as buckwheat groats, quinoa, millet, and brown rice. I eat chicken, turkey and fish, such as salmon, tuna, trout, tilapia. I also eat beans and eggs for protein. I eat no shellfish. I snack on almonds, walnuts and raisins. I eat lots of salad (romaine, cucumber, carrots & onion, walnuts) with extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice. I eat a variety of fruits (type A): grapefruit in the morning, apples & almond butter, grapes, blueberries, and avacados. Of course, I eat veggies: asparagus, green beans, steamed broccoli, and squash. I had been going through menopause when I went to this doctor and she put me on some liquid progesterone drops that took care of hot flashes and night sweats too, after taking a saliva hormone test. I was 172 when I first went to her and this morning's scale reads 157, in nine months, and I don't go hungry. The hardest part was giving up coffee and chocolate! I cheated on my birthday and the thing is, once your body is detoxed and used to whole, simple, good food, your cravings are really gone. Much of emotional or habit eating is also gone. I take supplements from Apex Energetics based on the book by Datis Kharriazian, "Why do I still have symptoms when my hormone levels are normal?" It's a great new book (2010) and protocol. I recommend going to his site and finding a practitioner. Good Luck! Oh, and my latest blood work has my thyroid levels in good shape! I feel good enough to start gently exercising again!Did you successfully lose weight on this diet?
YesHow much weight did you lose so far?
11-25 lbsPros for Thyroid Patients?
My thyroid levels are normal after much trial & error using Apex energetics supplements for a "gut infection". If you are eating the wrong foods for you, your body's digestive tract gets "leaky gut syndrome" where undigested food creates havoc in your system.Cons for Thyroid Patients?
None that I know of. Have yourself checked for digestive issues, as allergies to foods that over decades can create autoimmune responses. Eat organic as much as possible and avoid food additives, hormones and pesticides, which wreck havoc with our systems.Would you recommend this to a friend?
