Should You Be Concerned About Taking Generic Thyroid Drugs?

Millions of thyroid patients take generic levothyroxine. But if three of the biggest-name organizations involved in thyroid treatment -- the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), American Thyroid Association (ATA) and The Endocrine Society -- had their way, generic levothyroxine might become a thing of the past. These groups are are asking the FDA to reconsider the standards it uses to claim that generic levothyroxine is equivalent to brand names like Synthroid and Levoxyl.
