Don't Do This More Than Once a Day...

Some of us think the holiday season is an excuse to allow ourselves treats from Thanksgiving through New Year...and some even extend that to Super Bowl Sunday!

This is a recipe for guaranteed weight gain, because remember... for someone with a normal metabolism, an additional 500 calories a day means an extra pound of weight gain EVERY WEEK! And thyroid patients are often able to gain even more easily, due to a slowed metabolism.

500 calories seems like a lot, but it's actually very pretty easy to reach. One large latte with whipped cream, a piece of pie, one super-sized muffin or cookie, and there you are.

You can't indulge in a big way, every day, or you're going to pack on the pounds for the holidays.

At the same time, if you don't indulge occasionally in your favorites, you'll feel deprived, and that may actually encourage you to binge. So... if you need to indulge, keep it to one small indulgence a day, at most. (That does NOT mean you need to indulge every day. Just don't go over one a day!)

And remember, that even with that indulgence, if you don't want to gain weight, you'll have to cut back elsewhere to reduce calories, or ramp up your exercise to burn more calories.

(Keep track of your daily indulgence in my Holiday Diet Success Tracker now. )
