Are You Keeping Things From Your Doctor?

Are you conveniently "forgetting" to mention the herbs and alternative supplements you've just started when your doctor asks what you're taking? Have you taken the potentially dangerous step of buying medication abroad or online, but you're afraid of what the doctor will say, so you don't mention it?

Self-treatment can be dangerous. Medications, supplements, herbs and treatments can interact, or even work against you, and ruin all your hard work to be well. Even failing to keep all your practitioners informed can be problematic -- your herbalist, doctor, and acupuncturist all need to know everything you're doing and taking, so that they can make informed recommendations, and help guide you toward wellness.

A BETTER APPROACH? Be honest about what you're doing and taking. If you don't feel like you can tell your doctor what you're doing or taking, then that's a very clear sign that you should be looking for a new doctor who you can work with, instead of around.
