Feeling Fat, Fuzzy, or Frazzled?

Q. Your book is based on the concept of "endo-types" -- the thyroid-imbalanced "feeling fat" type; the sex-gland imbalanced "fuzzy" type; and the "frazzled" adrenally imbalanced types. Can you explain a bit more about these endo-types, and how your approach uses them to help readers?

We came up with these categories because a great many people who came to us were not getting all the way better, even with excellent thyroid care. What we determined was that many had concomitant but undiagnosed adrenal or sex gland imbalances. These were causing great distress.

Most doctors, even those proficient in hormone balancing, seem to use a "hit and miss" or "shotgun" approach to hormone evaluation and rebalancing. However, many of us have imbalances that are not so easily detected by regular testing or treated by one hormone. With the more detailed and sophisticated 3-gland testing, the imbalance becomes apparent. With the endo-type concept, the treatment becomes more apparent.

What we have learned in the past few years is that these three gland systems work in tandem and are interrelated, much like the 3 legs of a 3-legged stool. If ANY one leg (or gland) is too high, or too low, the surface upon which our metabolic health rests is not level and stable. This 3-legged stool, when properly balanced, provides the solid foundation for our entire metabolic health.

So, we came up with 3 endocrine hormone types or "endo-types" -

The "thyroid-driven" endo-type often has physical symptoms that your readers know well, including weight problems, temperature regulation challenges, difficulty having the physical energy to get through their day. In essence, a thyroid-driven imbalance is what we call the "physical" endo-type.

The "sex-gland driven" fuzzy-thinking endo-type has difficulty with focus, memory, and concentration because sex hormones are not only related to sexual desire and reproduction, but recent research is showing just how intimately our sex hormones are involved in proper brain function by regulating nerve transmissions. We call people with this situation the "mental" endo-type.

The "adrenal-driven" endo-types frequently have the emotional symptoms of anger, irritability, fear, anxiety, nervousness as a result of adrenal cortisol insufficiency or adrenaline excess. This results in challenges with mood stability, causing them and those around them to be extremely uncomfortable. We call this the "emotional" endo-type.

Once you identify your "endo-type", we've found that treatment can be quick, easy, and lasting.

Q. One of the challenges many patients have is finding a doctor who will take this sort of approach seriously, run necessary tests, and not just disregard the symptoms. What can someone do if they have a conventional, by-the-book doctor who refuses to consider the concept of hormonal balance?

First, your tests may be "normal," but you're not! Many doctors have excess faith in blood tests, which are not best for hormone testing. Also they're less concerned with "quality-of -life" issues than with "life and death" issues.

To reclaim your health and live your fullest life, fight back and don't accept "normal" as your diagnosis. Take matters into your own hands, and find an alternative practitioner who will order thyroid, adrenal, and sex gland panel by saliva testing. In over half the states, which we have listed on listed on our www.FeelingFFF.com site, people may simply self-order these saliva tests.

Then, using protocols explained in our Fat, Fuzzy Frazzled book, you can begin to follow a detailed treatment program that includes adding the right vitamins, minerals, herbs, diets, essential oils, exercise program, amino acids, imagery techniques, and spiritual practices to effect your system optimally and quickly.
