Herbal supplements, such as the well-publicized Metabolife and Herbalife, and many other herbal formulations that contain the herb ephedra, also known by its Chinese name, ma huang, are currently under serious scrutiny by the FDA. Ephedra has been identified as a stroke and high blood pressure risk, and the FDA is considering banning it from over-the-counter diet supplements. Use of these products should ONLY be considered under the recommendation of your health practitioner.
