Thanks to you and your website, my life has turned around.
I suffered from thyroid symptoms for a year before the doctor was able to
correctly diagnose me with hypothyroidism. I took Synthroid from July
1999 until July 2000. My tsh level was down to 1.8 but I felt lousy
because I still had all the symptoms: fatigue, sleepiness, depression,
sore joints and the weight--the horrible embarrassing weight that wouldn't
go away.
For the past year I have visited your site regularly, I've written to you
and you've answered me, I've read and posted in the discussion groups, I
purchased your book and read it from cover to cover, learning as much as I
could about this chronic disease.
The mention of the New England Journal of Medicine article on T3 was the
clincher for me.
I told my doctor about the article and that I really wanted to try Armour.
He told me that if I'd bring him a copy of the article he'd see about
it.
I took him the article, along with correspondence I had received from the
company that produces Armour that indicated the proper dosage of Armour
for a person that had been on Synthroid. That's all it took. My
wonderful doctor, who always takes the time to listen and is open-minded,
prescribed Armour! I had been taking 125mcg of Synthroid and my doctor
started me on 60mg of Armour in July. Several weeks later when tested, my
tsh level was at 7 so he upped my dosage to 90mg. It is now October. My
tsh is at 1.8 and I feel fantastic!
On October 8th I realized that I was feeling, very, very good. I was
actually feeling the best I'd felt in years! I was coming home from
work and working, not sleeping on the couch. I had energy to work in the
yard. I was staying up late at night. I didn't have any joint or muscle
pain. I was walking my dogs. BUT, the best thing.......after two
years.....I'm losing weight!! Since switching to Armour, I've lost 12
pounds, very slowly, but I've lost them! I can't believe it! I'm
thrilled! All those wasted months of dieting and exercising only to go
into a deeper depression after getting on the scales to see that I had
gained are behind me. I'm only putting good things into my body. I've
eating salads, veggies, fruits, beans, fish and drinking lots of water.
Thank you, Mary, and all of the other readers who posted information on
the website so sufferers like myself could read the articles and comments
and learn from them
