Thyroid Jeers - 2000!
Here's a true "jeer". Had my annual T.S.H. test ran 2 mo ago. . . the nurse drew blood and said she would call the pharmacy for more Synthroid the next day when results came in. Nobody bothered to ask me how I felt, not the nurse...or Doctor, they just drew blood, that was it.. .
Jeers to all the makers of thyroid medication that use corn as a filler in their tablets. Many people are allergic to corn.
Jeers to all the doctors who think the TSH test is the ONLY test for hypothyroid patients or those who have all the hypo/hyper symptoms but haven't been diagnosed properly.
Jeers to all the endos and docs out there that have decided to play god and refuse to prescribe Armour for their patients. They have no idea how they are hurting their patients. It is so sad to think that someone decided that it was an inferior drug to Synthroid....Just the opposite is true.
Jeers to every single Endo who insists that Synthyroid/Thyroxine is the "perfect " replacement hormone and totally ignore the appalling catalogue of
symptoms and poor quality of life huge numbers of their patients endure.
.
Jeers to all the doctors out there who read patients charts and don't look their patients in the face
Jeers to all the doctors who think your symptoms are "all in your head."
Jeers to everyone who thinks one little pill taken every day will fix your hypothyroidism forever.
Jeers to Synthroid's manufacturer, Knoll Pharmaceuticals, for not responding to an e-mail I sent to them inquiring if they were planning to continue their current pricing scale. I asked them in light of the recent settlement of the class action lawsuit if they plan to lower prices to remain competitive with other
T4 meds. I informed them that I was a former consumer of Synthroid and requested from my doctor that I be changed to Levoxyl due to what I considered underhanded business practices by Knoll. I also asked them if they weren't planning on lowering the price then, why not? I don't think they want to answer me.
Jeers to the 4 or 5 Doctors I asked for a T3 test to no avail. They scoffed and said that it would not change anything.
Jeers to the Endocrinologist who said to me that "all fat women are unhappy", and said my problems are unrelated to thyroid. Just think, the facts are in - I have no thyroid, it was radiated when I was six, and for 8 years I have been on Synthroid - and everyone is mad at me because my symptoms got worse!
Jeers to Synthroid, which still hasn't even been FDA approved, and who seem to be trying to bypass the FDA's New Drug Application process.
Jeers to the medical profession in general, for failing to research alternative treatments for hyperthyroidism because nuclear radioactive iodine is so inexpensive...........booooooooooo.
Jeers to doctors that pat you on the hand and say you are depressed, there is nothing wrong with your thyroid. Then, after running the blood tests, they were wrong!
Jeers to Loma Linda Medical Center and Lockheed Martin for experimenting with humans by paying them $1,000.00 to take perchlorate pills. I'm sure they were told "Worst case scenario is the pill will destroy your thyroid gland and all you have to do is take one pill a day" Absolutely disgusting scientific medical research philosophy and foundation here. I feel horrified by the possible long term damage to these uniformed volunteers.

Cheers & Jeers Both!
Cheers to all the magazines who print articles on thyroid disorders (Good Housekeeping, Family Circle, Better Homes & Gardens) and how common they are, but also jeers to these same magazines for slanting the articles so they emphasize how "easy to treat" thyroid conditions are.
Jeers to Marriott corporation for making fun of thyroid patients in their ads for Fairfield Inns. But cheers to Marriott for pulling the ads making fun of thyroid patients in a fairly responsive manner.
Cheers to Gail Devers for publically advocating testing for thyroid dysfunction on major TV news programs. Jeers to Gail Devers (and others like her) for maintaining the position that thyroid disease is easy to treat and that all everyone needs is one T4 pill a day to feel like their old selves. |
Cheers

Cheers to consistent and unconditional support from friends during scary, confusing thyroid cancer experience.
Cheers to Armour Thyroid for staying the course and providing a safe, natural, and effective means of treating hypothyroidism!

Cheers to the more experienced pelople that visit this forum that don't hesitate for a second to help out newly or "virgin" hypo people.
Cheers to the Thyroid about.com site and Mary for "sticking out her neck" on thyroid issues. Cheers to Mary Shomon for Sharing and for Caring about others and sharing what she is experiencing and learning about the entire subject of and on the Entire Thyroid, and its Functions and Dis-Functions and the effect it has on the entire Body, and Mind!
