"I would like to see a show on Hypothyroidism with Hashitmoto Disease. I was told that they do not know much on Hashitmoto disease until someone famous is diagnosed then they will find a solution or do some research. This is really SAD! I have been misdiagnosed for many years and did not even know it. I'm 42 year old female with hypothyroidism/hyperthyroidism. I have multinodulers on my right and left lobes.

The symptoms I have are cold, dried skin and hair, weight gain/weight loss, no sex drive, INSOMNIA, fatigue, tired, hair loss, heart burn, itching and many more.... I was first diagnosed last Jan 2000 with pain in my chest and very hyper symptoms enlarged thyroid which is a goiter. My family has been going through hell with me not being regular on my moods and symptoms I have been having. One month I lost 15 months the next month I gained 15 months and I had not changed my eating habit.I have been to 4 Endo Dr's and 1 ENT Dr. and no one can give me a direct answer as how to treat this. The first Endo Dr put me on .25 synthroid and when I went back and explained all the symptoms I was having he said oh your Hypo not hyper so he changed my medicine to .50 synthroid which I was feeling little better. Then when I went back for my blood work he said that he had to change my medicine to a lower dose because my TSH was to low. I explained that I felt little better on that dose. Then I went back in 2 weeks because I felt terrible and he said it was something to do with female hormones. So off I went to my female gynecology and that Dr did an examine and she said there's nothing wrong with your hormones. So there I was again 4 months later back to ground zero! So I looked for another Endo Dr and went to see him and he reviewed everything and seem like he knew what he was going to do. He said I want to up your synthyroid to .100 so I agree. I went back to him 6 weeks later and he had the new blood test in front of him and he said oh no your blood results are within normal limits and I explain to him there normal limit are for the lab not me, because everyone is different. He said I want another ultrasound done to see if the goiter has gone down. So I had that done and went back to see him and he said that the ultrasound showed that I had multinodulers and they reflected hypo and hyper. So I asked him if this is why I get both symptoms he said oh no you must be under allot of stress or something. I explained to him that my throat feels like it's full or swollen inside he said the thyroid would have nothing to do with that feeling! So now I feel like I should start over again and maybe find a Dr out there that handles nothing but thyroid! It is so frustrating to not know your self what to expect and you depend on a Dr to explain everything to you and know what to do. Like I stated in the beginning of my letter ex-President Bush (sr) has Graves disease so you hear allot about that disease, but you do not hear much on Hypothyroidism or hashitmoto disease. I'm starting a chapter from the American Foundation for thyroid patients in my area because we do not have a support group or anyone that we can talk to. After going from one Dr to another they make you feel like everything is in your head and your a depressed female with hormones that need some help. Oprah you are a female and I'm sure you can understand from one female to another what I'm talking about (Dr's).Maybe if you could do a show on Hypothyroidism, there might be other females and males that see this and go have a simple blood test done. Please consider a show on this subject."
