"I have just recently been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. For many years I have fought weight gain. Tried many diets and still my weight goes up. I have been battling depression, fatigue, stomach and spastic bowel syndrome, many sleepless nights or sleeping a little at a time.I have been given sleeping pills to help with the fatigue and exhaustion. I have developed allergies and sinus problems which I have never had before. I have at least 3 to 4 head aches a week. I have lost the energy to care about things getting done, or it is a push to make my self do it. For years the doctors told me it was too much stress and I need to remove some of it. Ya, right! Which kid or family member. Not counting work. I have asked to have my thyroid checked by other doctors, but it usually came back normal. I was up for my yearly physical and my mom had read an article in "Woman's World" and told me to have the doctor make sure and do a TSH, T3, T4 and a thyroid antibody screen. Especially since my grandmother and uncle both had been diagnosed with it. When the results came in this time they found that I have a none or low active thyroid. I have just started the medicine and I am scheduled to go back in three weeks for another blood check and see how the medicine has changed with the new medicine, and decided if I need to change my dosage. I am so thrilled that I have some answers to several problems that I couldn't understand. I have found a web site that has provided me with many facts and a chat line to help answer many of my questions about hypothyroidism. This needs to be brought to peoples attention. Since many doctors do not have the complete tests done and these people are suffering for no reason."
