Synthroid Lawsuit Update
Thyroid News / From Mary Shomon Your Thyroid Guide

March 2002 -- Many people have been contacting me to find out the latest status on the Synthroid lawsuit. The news is that there is no news. Apparently, the settlement is still being disputed, which means that payments to patients who have filed as part of the class action suit are still on hold, pending final settlement approval.

The only place to get updates is at the Synthroid Claims website, http://www.synthroidclaims.com. Unfortunately, this site has not been updated in more than 18 months.

Synthroid's manufacturer, Abbott Labs, have said in the past that they can't really do anything to help patients, because the suit was against former manufacturer, Knoll, and said that patients need to check the Synthroid Claims site and contact the attorneys for more information.

According to the Synthroid Claims site, if you filed to participate in the suit, and have had an address change, you need to call: contact 1-800-853-4853. That is also the number where you can leave messages for the attorneys, and request a call back. Many people who have called have reported to me that they do not receive a response when leaving messages. My own messages on this number have also gone unanswered.

Also, please note that if you did not submit an application to be included in the Synthroid class action lawsuit, then it's too late for you to file an application to be included in the suit or receive payment.
