Selenium's Protective Powers for the Thyroid
March, 2003 -- French resesarchers looked at the connection between selenium intake, size of the thyroid, and its structure.
What they found was that in women, lower selenium levels was associated with increased thyroid volume (goiter, which can be a sign of thyroid disease.)
The researchers concluded that selenium may protect against both goiter and autoimmune thyroid disease.
