Satietrol Not Recalled or Pulled from Market, Product is Safe, Says Manufacturer
April, 23 2001
I've received some emails from readers, concerned because they went to their health food stores to get Satietrol, and were told that the product wasn't available due to a recall.
I've contacted the manufacturer of Satietrol, PacificHealth Laboratories, Inc, and had a chance to speak with a spokesperson for the company, Dr. Robert Portman.
According to Dr. Portman, there have been no recalls of Satietrol, but he suspects that the rumor may have gotten started due to an unfortunate bait and switch technique used by some vitamin and supplement chains. Dr. Portman indicated that when products run out due to high demand -- and Satietrol has been selling very strongly since a recent article here at the thyroid site, and a feature article in Women's World -- some stores will tell consumers that the product isn't available because it's been recalled, and attempt to sell them one of their own storebrand products.
"Satietrol is safe, and there has not been any recall," said Dr. Portman.
