Synthroid Lawsuit -- February 2003 Update
February, 2003 -- If you filed several years ago to be part of the class action lawsuit against Synthroid, and you're still waiting for your check, you're not alone. Despite the settlement having been approved in 2000, and final settlement efforts underway in 2001, the settlement has STILL not been finalized, and so payments are still not being made and checks are not being cut.
Is it just coincidence how quickly the company settled for pennies on the dollar, but how long the actual payment is taking?
If you haven't filed to be part of the lawsuit, it's too late for you to participate in the class action. You can, of course, always pursue legal recourse on your own.
If you contact Synthroid's manufacturers, or the law firm managing the lawsuit, they'll tell you to check the Synthroid Claims site for updates. That site, however, has not been updated in almost three years, and calls to the law firm representing plaintiffs are not usually returned.
In the meantime, it looks like thyroid patients will have to wait indefinitely for the estimated $19 per person class action payment.
