How to Get Free and Low-cost Brand Name Prescription Drugs
Thyroid News / From Mary Shomon Your Thyroid Guide

Press Release Source: Benefits Publications

Senior insurance agent and Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) Harry Thal kept receiving phone calls from clients and other insurance agents regarding the lack of prescription drug coverage provided by Medicare, Senior HMOs and of course, persons with no health insurance. In response to these inquiries, he sent out a copy of his new book, "Prescription Benefits -- A Consumer's Guide to Free and Discount Prescription Drugs."

This book lists over 1000 brand name drugs that are provided free of charge to qualified people of any age who are in need of medication but can't afford them, by almost 200 pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Many discounts are also covered. Nine pharmaceutical companies, including Abbott, AstraZeneca, Aventis, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson and Johnson, Novartis, GlaxoSmithKline, Eli Lilly and Pfizer are providing discounts to qualified senior citizens. These discounts range from a $12 or $15 co-payment to a discount of from 25% to 40% depending on the medication and manufacturer.

The book explains how to qualify for low cost prescriptions to retired military and veterans. In addition to the national programs disclosed, Thal elaborates on about 30 state-sponsored programs for seniors and others. These programs range from a discount at your local pharmacy to cash rebates and tax credits from your state.

This book is not exclusive to only adults. It provides a resource for low cost prescriptions and health insurance at nominal cost for uninsured children in 49 states.

People with specific diseases are provided with resources for free and discounted drugs as well. AIDS/HIV patients, and persons with some dreaded diseases like Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Myasthenia Gravis, Multiple Sclerosis and several others can get assistance with some of their medications.

For persons with incomes that won't qualify for free or industry-sponsored programs, the book provides resources for other discounts. It has information on purchasing medications from Canada and Mexico

"Prescription Benefits..." is available exclusively from the publisher, Benefits Publications, PO Box 2137, Kernville, CA 93238-2137 at $24.95 plus $3.95 S/H. California residents add $1.81 sales tax.
