According to Reuters, a group of French thyroid patients have initiated legal action to attempt to prove that their illness was due to France's failure to warn citizens of the dangers of radioactive fallout from the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
The 53 plaintiffs filing the action claim that France did not alert its citizens to the potential dangers from a cloud of radioactivity that drifted west from Chernobyl.
