Thyroid UK is a new thyroid support/campaign group in the United Kingdom. The group's aim is to provide support to people with both diagnosed and undiagnosed thyroid disease. Lyn Mynott, who runs the group, maintains that there are many aspects of thyroid disease -- low production, lack of conversion of T4 to T3, low adrenal reserve, lack of dietary supplements, and excess fluoride (many, many people in the UK drink far too much tea not realising that it contains fluoride!) -- and the group will be addressing these.

According to Lyn, many people are misdiagnosed, some with ME, some with arthritis and fibromyalgia, and many with with depression. The group has an Information Pack that includes information on all of these aspects plus a book list, website list, advice on supplements, medicines that clash, and most importantly a list of private doctors that deal with thyroid problems, especially treating those who have all the symptoms of thyroid disease and yet remain within the blood test ranges. Lyn believes that "borderline" cases should be given hormone replacement since the doctors do not know how far up the range they were before they were ill.

She is campaigning for better treatment, screening at an early age and for natural thyroxine to be prescribed as it was in the 1980s, instead of synthetic thyroxine.
