BIOSAFE's New Thyroid Test Approved in Canada for At-Home Use
Company Will Also Unveil Its New Blood Transport System

November, 2001

BIOSAFE Laboratories, Inc. announced today that it has received approval from Health Canada for consumer use of its Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) test. Used to screen for Thyroid Disease, BIOSAFE's TSH test was previously FDA approved in the US. This is the only at-home TSH test approved for use in Canada.

The BIOSAFE TSH test was developed utilizing the Company's patent-pending capillary "Blood Transport System" (BTSTM), which allows for the collection and shipping of a micro-sample of blood taken from a single "nick" of a finger. All specimen processing is performed at BIOSAFE's CLIA certified laboratory in Chicago. The BTSTM provides a convenient and virtually painless alternative to the usual collection method of drawing blood from the arm for clinical tests.

TSH is one of the principal laboratory tests recommended by the American Thyroid Association for detecting either over-active or under-active thyroid conditions. Thyroid hormones control energy levels and metabolism. Too little thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism) can cause weight gain or difficulty losing weight, constipation, fatigue, depression, slow heartbeat, and sensitivity to cold. Too much thyroid hormone (hyperthyroidism) can cause weight loss, diarrhea, vision problems, fast heartbeat, and sensitivity to heat. Even though thyroid disease can pose a serious health threat, a recent national survey revealed that almost 60 percent of Americans have never been tested for a thyroid condition.

BIOSAFE President, David Fleisner said, "We're very excited about the future of our new test and blood transportation system. Through this innovative approach to blood sample collection, we are providing millions of people with quick, convenient, and painless access to a procedure that has far-reaching health benefits."

BIOSAFE Laboratories, Inc, is a subsidiary of BIOSAFE Medical Technologies, Inc. in Chicago, Illinois. BIOSAFE develops, manufactures, and processes health monitoring and screening products for the diabetes, women's health, men's health, and heart-health markets. Products are distributed to the professional medical, disease management, and pharmaceutical markets as well as directly to the public. Blood collection kits are available directly from the BIOSAFE Web site http://www.ebiosafe.com, or by calling 1-888-700- TEST (8378).
