You may not realize that refilling your prescription for Levoxyl, Synthroid, Armour, Tapazole or PTU may be as simple as clicking a mouse. Online pharmacies are offering a variety of thyroid hormone replacement and antithyroid drugs, often at prices that beat your local pharmacy. They are also a ready and easy source for sometimes harder-to-find drugs like Armour Thyroid, Cytomel or Thyrolar -- products that some doctors and pharmacies erroneously tell you are "no longer available or discontinued" but are easily obtained at some pharmacies online.

Online pharmacies can beat your local pharmacy prices in some cases, and offer privacy, and easy home delivery by mail of most products. Many of the online pharmacies also offer other drugstore items, vitamins and supplements, and other health and beauty products. You can even create a standard shopping list of basic items at some sites, and have them contact you at intervals to schedule automatic reorders.

Be careful about illegal or unethical pharmacies that don't require prescriptions. Any reputable online pharmacy will require a legitimate prescription. Be sure to check with your health insurance provider in advance to make sure they will cover or reimburse purchases from the online pharmacy you choose.

The official list of reputable licensed online pharmacies is maintained by the National Association Boards of Pharmacies website. Click here for the list of pharmacies.
