Hypothyroidism 101

Hypothyroidism is the broad term that refers to a condition of not having enough thyroid hormone or having an underactive thyroid. You may be hypothyroid due to surgery that removes all or part of the thyroid, or you may be hypothyroid due to radioactive iodine treatment for an overactive gland. Some people are hypothyroid due to an autoimmune disease, Hashimoto's, that slowly destroys the gland. If you are hypothyroid -- or are wondering if you have hypothyroidism -- this e-mail e-course will help you understand the condition. In this e-course, you'll learn about diagnosis, treatment, challenges involved in the condition, related problems (such as weight gain) and holistic and mind-body approaches.
