"Dear AACE: You Still Haven't Answered Our Questions..."
AACE's criticisms of Dr. Steven Hotze, his approach to hypothyroidism treatment, and use of Armour Thyroid, detailed in my article, has kicked off an exchange between AACE and me. On Nov. 18th, I wrote to them (HTML,
PDF) to contest their assertions about hypothyroidism and its treatment. I received a Nov. 23, 2005 response from Dr. Bill Law of AACE (HMTL, PDF). While I appreciated the fact that AACE responded, I still have unanswered concerns, which I've expressed in today's letter of Nov. 25...As a patient advocate, whose objective is clear communications with the thyroid patient community, I must point out, however, that you neglected to answer any of the questions in my letter. By failing to address any of the legitimate questions, your assertions still lack specific citations or evidence-based supporting information.
For the sake of the credibility of AACE and your public positions, I had hoped that you were willing and able to stand behind your statements about hypothyroidism and its treatment by providing the "solid scientific evidence" to support them. I remain hopeful...
