Action Alert for UK Thyroid Patients: New Petition Asks for Better Thyroid Care
Wednesday August 17, 2005
United Kingdom (UK)-based patient advocate and author Diana Holmes has developed a new petition which will be lodged as a formal complaint with the UK's General Medical Council (GMC). The complaint targets a variety of problems evident in the UK medical system's handling of certain thyroid disorders, andn charges overreliance on blood tests and underreliance on clinical signs and symptoms, emotional abuse by practitioners, refusal to return patients to optimum health, and reluctance to encourage debate or research. Strong charges, but if there's a person to lead the fight to get this petition seen by all the various medical and legal authorities in the UK, not to mention the media, it's Diana! I urge you to review the petition and consider signing it and sending it back to Diana right away, as every thyroid patient deserves the sort of care that Diana describes here, and clearly, not all thyroid patients in the UK are getting what they need!
