Can Thyroid Cancer Be Funny?

Saturday February 2, 2008
An interesting article from the Toronto Star profiles 38-year old comedian Rob Hawkes, who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2005. He has written a one-man comedic play about thyroid cancer, with the in-your-face title of "F--k You, Cancer," talking about his experience. Surprisingly, his then girlfriend Jane Luk, also a comedian, was diagnosed last year with thyroid cancer. Read more about this offbeat story, and Hawkes' play, which he reports at his play's website, he wrote because he "believes passionately in bringing hope and laughter to this most serious of subjects."
