Thyroid Drug Company Websites/Information Directory

Where can you go to get information about the companies that make thyroid drugs, or about the drugs themselves? Well, a natural starting place is the web sites for the companies that make thyroid drugs. And, nearly every brand of thyroid drug also has its own product-specific web site, featuring information about the drug. Check out this helpful directory of brand-name thyroid drugs on the market, with links to the drugs' web sites, as well as the sites for their manufacturers.

How will Armour thyroid continue to be manufactured when the FDA has said it is an unapproved drug and all unapproved drugs will have to stop production until they are FDA approved AND health insurance companies are sending messages to their patients on Armour that they need to have their doctor’s switch them to Synthroid or Levothyroxine because Armour is a BANNED drug AND the AARP has just sent out a letter to it’s members that Armour is a BANNED drug?
Is there some special process that will keep Armour from going the way of the manufacturers of the thyroid medicine I take who have had to stop production and are no longer available? Does the FDA allow companies that are in the process of seeking approval (if Armour is even planning to seek approval???) CAN continue to make their product?
I realize that many other people are in disbelief that this may happen and are saying there is no way the FDA would ban a drug from manufacture with no warning, but I am telling you they’ve done it with thyroid and I know that first hand. My first “warning” that I wouldn’t be getting thyroid anymore was on New Year’s Eve day when I tried to get it refilled and my pharmacist said she couldn’t get it anymore.
I’m in the process of hoarding thyroid and just got back last night from driving 50 miles one way to pick up my last two refills.
After I got the medicine, the pharmacist said, “Hey, aren’t they pulling this medicine?”
So, I’m trying to find out from someone in the “know” how Armour is going to continue to be manufactured when the FDA has said they’re unapproved and unapproved drugs can’t be manufactured anymore; health insurance companies are denying payment on Armour because it’s a banned drug; and the AARP is sending their members notice that Armour is a banned drug.

Thank you very much for your time and I hope you can clear up this very pressing problem for me.

All the best,
Laura
