Dear Mary: The Book is Great!
Monday September 6, 2004
A reader writes...Mary, I received my copy of your new book "The Thyroid Diet" 3 days ago. It is great!!! You have made me see this weight loss battle in a way
that makes sense. I finished the book the second day and I am using some
of the recipes. I wanted to personally thank you for sharing your life
with thyroid disease and for sharing your expertise on this subject!!!
May you have long life and peace! You have changed my life, thank you!! -- Venetta
Kudos! I bought the book yesterday, and have been devouring it! I don't know if a thyroid problem is really what I have, but all indicators point that way. I have a dr. appointment in two weeks. We'll see if I can get tested then. I'm 29, had a baby 10 months ago. Gained 45 pounds with my pregnancy and for the most part, all that weight is stuck! I diet - I feel like I eat next to nothing, I exercise - I'm currently training for a marathon, so the 5+ mile runs five days a week are doing nothing. What else could it be? My grandmother has a thyroid problem (diagnosed and medicated) and my mother has Lupus. I'm at a loss for an explanation. Before my baby was born, I only had to cut back a little at meals and hit the gym once or twice a week and I could easily drop five pounds when needed. Now, short of sand blasting it off, NOTHING is working! Hopefully by following your diet and supplement guide I can get back into my pre-pregnancy clothes (with my doctors help, too). Thank you for writing what I hope will be my saving grace! Sincerely, Alison C.
