Edna Kyrie, a friend of mine and a friend of the Thyroid.about.com site for a long time, is earning some long-overdue kudos, from the Camden New Journal. The paper is profiling Edna's creation of the amazing Thyroid History website. Read the article about Edna now.

I’ve had a rough time with hypothyroid over the past year. I had a mess of funky symptoms that my crack medical team thought was heart failure. During the process of many heart related tests, which were all negative (good) I developed many of the classic thyroid issues; weight gain, mood problems, blood pressue sky high, sleep apnea (yes, I now know it can come from this) and others. For some reason my doctors did not add all of this up. Finally, I ended up negotiating with my Dr and got a thyroid test. It showed I has 10 tsh, all others were normal. The endo had me on 25 umg (?) which didn’t work, and my tsh went up to around 15. My symptoms were all very pronounced, but I did managed to lose 20 lbs with a lot of effort. At this time my mood was the key issue: it was the worst I’d ever had. Finally, I convinced by GP to raise my T4 dose to 50, then 100. Over 8 months I still had the same issues, but toned down some. At that point my Psy and GP decided to start me on 5 mg of T3. At first, for a few days I really felt great. First time in a long time. I could tell why the drs were fans of T3. But, around day 4 the effect faded and I was back to what had passed for normal. Reading all of the articles about T3 I was hoping someone out there might have some practical info on T3 and if my experience with it is fairly normal, and if that means that T3 failed to work. Thanks.
