Levoxyl Just Recalled AGAIN...and AGAIN

Thursday September 11, 2003
Thyroid drug Levoxyl has been recalled again. As happened earlier this year, bottles labelled as Levoxyl 112mcg, a popular dosage size, actually had the drug Soloxine in the 0.2mg tablets. Soloxine is a form of levothyroxine used for animals!

The specifics of the nationwide recall are as follows:
  • Levoxyl Tablets, (Levothyroxine Sodium Tablets, USP), 112 mcg, 100 count bottles, Rx only, Repackaged by: American Health Packaging, Columbus, OH,
  • NDC 52604-5112-1. Recall # D-321-03.
  • Code: Lot #024737, Exp. May 31,2004.
  • 4,218 bottles are affected, and they were distributed nationwide.
If you take Levoxyl in the 112 mcg dosage, you should contact your pharmacy to make sure your prescription is not part of the recalled product.

In the meantime, what IS the problem with Levoxyl, anyway. Recalls seem to be a regular occurrence for them. Find out more information about the numerous Levoxyl recalls.
